Junior Team selection- (8th July’11)

Our SIFE projects are planned such that they are sustainable. In order to continue what we started we had to involve our juniors. For this we had an elaborate selection process to pick out the most eligible people.
After a formal introductory session on SIFE and our project presentation in front of staff and students, the interested candidates were to form teams and based on the details of our previous work they were to make a small presentation of 10mins and present it in front of a panel of senior students. The presentation had to be about their own plans to take these existing projects forward. This was one way of gaging team work. This was then followed by personal interviews to understand individual motivation levels. After which a big group of 27 students were inducted into the SIFE team. These students were then put into separate teams for the two current projects and some students were put into handling IT, some for Media & Publicity, some for sponsorship and some taking care of the Finances of the groups.

The competition-Regional Level (29th Jun'11) & National Level (1st July'11)

SIFE competitions are challenging, team-oriented events that create a sense of accountability and motivation for teams to continually improve the quality of their social projects. They also provide an opportunity for collaboration and best-practice sharing, further strengthening the value of the learning experience and the overall effectiveness of the program.
As all of us were newcomers to this competition, each one was filled with joy, excitement, curiosity, anxiety & what not... finally all that we had worked for in the last one year would be showcased in front of so many people…
In the regional level, we had to compete against 29 teams. We cleared this to enter the next level, the quarter finals of the National Level competition. Here we were up against 16 teams and were declared to be among the top 8 teams all over India. This was a huge leap since we were hardly in our 2nd year of SIFE activities at SIOM.
